Overwintering Birds: Workshop & Guided Walk
Join us for a deep dive into the fascinating world of overwintering birds – a workshop & guided walk you won’t want to miss!
Every fall, birds travel thousands of kilometers on a perilous journey to warmer climates. But many of them stay behind and brave the winter instead. Why don’t they leave when everything else does? Learn how they survive and thrive in Canada’s harshest season? The Winter Birding series is hosted by TRCA’s bander in charge and ornithologist Shane Abernethy. Shane has 7 years of ornithological experience and 3 years of banding at the Bird Research Station at TTP. He also produces the popular Feathered Friday series via TRCA Instagram
This hybrid workshop consists of a one-hour seated indoor presentation in the Visitor Centre at Kortright, followed by a one-hour guided walk on the trails. The total walking distance and pace will be dependent on weather and trail conditions.
Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is committed to creating an accessible experience for all participants. If you require an accessibility accommodation, please email Jennifer.Ouimette@trca.ca at least 7 days prior to the event.
