Take action with Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and earn high school volunteers hours!

Do you enjoy being outdoors and want to help out in your community?

Join the Conservation Youth Corps (CYC) and Ontario Streams to help restore a section of river bank of the Rouge River in Richmond Hill.

This is a great opportunity to earn high school community service hours while making a lasting environmental impact in your neighborhood! All tools and training are provided. No experience necessary—just dress for the weather!

When: Tuesday July 21 & Wednesday August 12

Where: We will meet in the parking lot on the EAST side of the building at 50 Staples Ave and walk to the river from there. Look for the Conservation Youth Corps flag.

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

What: You will be asked to wear hip waders and work in the river with the staff. Together, we will be creating in-stream habitat restoration structures by securing natural materials to eroded stream banks. Our work will help restore the stream to its natural shape, reduce erosion and improve water quality, and provide habitat for local wildlife.

Who Can Apply

To participate in the program, you must:
– Be at least 14 years of age
– Be currently enrolled in High School
– Have an interest in the outdoors and environmental conservation
– Be comfortable working in a team
– Be punctual and reliable

Cancellation Policy: The event will run rain or shine, but will be cancelled if there is a greater than 70% chance of thunderstorm or other hazardous weather. Registrants will be emailed by 7:00am on the morning of the event if there is a cancellation.
