
Conservation Youth Corps | eBird Challenge & Litter Clean Up
Take action with Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and earn high school volunteers hours!
Join the Conservation Youth Corps (CYC) for a guided bird walk and litter clean up on the Saigeon Trail in Richmond Hill!
This is a great opportunity to earn high school community service hours while making a lasting environmental impact in your neighborhood! All tools and training are provided.
Activity: Working together with TRCA staff, high school students will help to identify birds they see and hear on the trail while picking up litter along the way. Students will learn how to input the birds they found on eBird to contribute to community science. To get the most out of this event, we recommend you download the Merlin app to your phone (if possible) before the day of. Feel free to bring binoculars if you have them.
Date: Thursday October 14, 2026
Time: 4-6 p.m.
Where: Saigeon Trail (We will meet on the West side of the CIBC located in the Tower Hills Plaza).
Who Can Apply
To participate in the program, you must:
– Be at least 14 years of age
– Be currently enrolled in High School
– Have an interest in the outdoors and environmental conservation
– Be comfortable working in a team
– Be punctual and reliable

Cancellation Policy: The event will run rain or shine, but will be cancelled if there is a greater than 70% chance of thunderstorm or other hazardous weather. Registrants will be emailed by 2:00 pm on the day of the event if there is a cancellation.
