Join us on Saturday, September 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as we recognize Truth and Reconciliation Month during our First Saturdays program – free with general Village admission.

Featuring Métis textile artist Tracey-Mae Chambers, visitors are invited to participate in a hands-on weaving activity while learning about her nationally recognized installation Hope and Healing Canada. This ongoing, site-responsive series explores themes of decolonization, reconciliation, and collective healing, adapting to each location’s unique history and context.

Create your own small weaving, learn about Chambers’ artistic practice, and experience the fifth iteration of Hope and Healing Canada at the Village.

Tracey-Mae Chambers is a Métis installation artist and sculptor, and a member of the Métis Nation of Ontario. Her family is from several traditional Métis communities; both the Vasseur-Longlade and Cadieux-Evans families. Her piece, Hope and Healing Canada, encourages people to have the uncomfortable, yet important conversations about decolonization.
