Ever wondered how our resident feathered friends adapt to our winter climate? Every year, birds travel thousands of kilometers on a perilous journey to warmer climates to avoid the winter cold. But a number of them stay behind and brave the winter. Why don’t they leave, and how do they survive, or even thrive in the harshest season Canada has to offer?
On this winter adventure, join TRCA educators on a beginner-level guided birding walk as you explore one of Toronto’s premiere birding destinations! Learn to recognize common birds, check out the tools and guides best suited for birding beginners, and discover the joys of winter birding! Coffee and hot chocolate will be available, so don’t forget your thermos!
This event is part of the Finding Yourself in Nature Project, which seeks to increase visibility and improve equitable access to greenspaces and nature programs for folks from the Black, Indigenous, and other People of Colour (BIPoC) community.
