Celebrating the Group of Seven in Thornhill: Commemorative Easel and Plaques Unveiled
The Thornhill Historical Society, in partnership with the City of Vaughan, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), and the Moments of Algoma project, invite the public to an Unveiling Ceremony to celebrate the new easel honoring the artistic and cultural legacy of the Group of Seven in Thornhill. This event also marks the Thornhill Historical Society’s 50-year commitment to cultural preservation.
The new interpretive easel now anchors Thornhill as a key stop on the Group of Seven Touring Route, a provincial initiative that blends history with stunning landscapes, offering insights into the Group’s inspiration.

· Location: J.E.H. MacDonald House, 121 Centre Street, Thornhill
This day will be filled with art, history, and community, featuring:
· A formal unveiling ceremony with remarks from civic leaders and project partners
· Guided walking tours to the former homes of five Group of Seven artists
· En Plein Air art activity, family-friendly art activities, and community partner booths
All artists are welcome to bring your easel for this amazing networking opportunity while painting the historical site!
