Dance of the Timberdoodle: Courtship of the American Woodcock
Every year, male Timberdoodles return to Tommy Thompson Park (TTP) and put on an amazing show. Who are the Timberdoodles? What dance are they doing? And what makes them come here?
Join TRCA educators to learn more about the American Woodcock and observe their unusual courtship behaviour against the backdrop of the setting sun.
TRCA educators will share more about the Woodcock, their habitat needs and why TTP is the perfect place for these special shorebirds. After the presentation, there will be a short walk to look and listen for the Woodcock’s courtship display as the evening sun begins to set.
Program participants will receive a copy of the updated Tommy Thompson Park Bird Checklist (5th edition).
Binoculars will be available for participants to use during the program.
This walk is part of TRCA’s Spring Bird Festival at Tommy Thompson Park program series.
